Re:Coded is nonprofit organization registered in the United States, with operations in Iraq, Turkey and Yemen. Our mission is to prepare conflict-affected youth to enter the digital economy as software developers and tech leaders. Since 2017, we have trained more than 450 children and young adults how to code. Over 85% of our graduates, seeking employment after graduation find technical work within 6 months. Our activities include coding bootcamps, entrepreneurship training, a co-working space, and tech workshops and events.
Re:Coded was founded on the belief that learning how to code should be available to everyone, especially populations affected by conflict. As war-shattered economies start to get back on their feet, we train the generation that will drive these countries forward with the help of technology, while helping to solve the global technical talent shortage.
We’re are supported by some of the world’s leading foundations & development agencies, including GIZ, UNDP, WeWork, Western Union Foundation, Slack and SAP.
What We Want
Re:Coded is seeking an individual with strong communication and organisational skills to work closely with the Country Manager and oversee our operations in Baghdad, Iraq. The Project Coordinator is someone who is passionate about building a tech and entrepreneurial community, is well connected in Baghdad with local businesses, developers, entrepreneurs and freelancers, and is passionate about helping others enter the tech sector. S/he will be responsible for keeping all administrative tasks in order, supporting with the day-to-day of our activities and organising events and workshops.
Work closely with the Country Manager and the Coding Instructor to manage the daily tasks of the coding program, giving support to students and keeping documents organized.
Document and follow up on important action points made in meetings.
Manage donor relations and in-person visits from partners and supporters.
Events and Workshops
Organize small and large scale events and ensure they run smoothly.
Source speakers for monthly speaker sessions and events and manage logistics (e.g. transport and accommodation).
Work closely with the Marketing Coordinator in Erbil to advertise and promote programs and events.
Leverage your local network to mobilize volunteers and manage their task list.
Manage and process receipts and payments to students.
Build relationships with local vendors, purchase items and document all purchases.
Collaborate with the Financial team in Erbil in collecting and sharing relevant documentation according to rules and procedures.
Work closely with the Country Manager to facilitate employment and career progress opportunities for coding and entrepreneurship graduates.
Create monthly reports to document program progression and share with Re:Coded Management.
The ideal Candidate

You demonstrate integrity, dependability, accountability, self-awareness, work ethic, and empathy.
You’re plugged into the local tech scene in Baghdad and want to play a part in bringing tech education and entrepreneurship skills to the youth of Iraq.
At least 2 years of work experience in an assistant or similar role, preferably with a government development agency.
Proven experience handling financial documents and managing procurement process.
A good knowledge of local startups, influencers, technologists and companies in Baghdad.
Experience of managing coding bootcamps and/or organising tech events is a strong asset.
Strong computer skills and ability to easily navigate all platforms within G-Suite and Microsoft Office.
Strong working knowledge of communication tools like Slack and Trello.
Fluent English and Arabic. Working knowledge of Kurdish a plus.
Thrives in a fast-paced environment and thinks of herself/himself as a self-starter.
Is ready to get her/his hands dirty in any unexpected task that may come up, whether that’s jumping in as a trainer or helping problem solve with a student.
Strong knowledge of agile methodologies and other similar tools.
