About Re:Coded

Re:Coded is nonprofit organization registered in the United States, with operations in Iraq, Turkey and Yemen. Our mission is to prepare conflict-affected youth to enter the digital economy as software developers and tech leaders. Since 2017, we have trained more than 450 children and young adults how to code. Over 85% of our graduates, seeking employment after graduation find technical work within 6 months. Our activities include coding bootcamps, entrepreneurship training, a co-working space, and tech workshops and events.

Re:Coded was founded on the belief that learning how to code should be available to everyone, especially populations affected by conflict. As war-shattered economies start to get back on their feet, we train the generation that will drive these countries forward with the help of technology, while helping to solve the global technical talent shortage.

We’re are supported by some of the world’s leading foundations & development agencies, including GIZ, UNDP, WeWork, Western Union Foundation, Slack and SAP.  

What We Want

We’re looking for a marketing professional with experience creating social media campaigns, branding, and content targeted towards youth and young adults with an interest in technology and entrepreneurship. You’ll be creating materials for Re:Coded’s activities in Iraq, including bootcamps, workshops, events, co-working space and our digital agency. The Marketing Coordinator will also help strategize online fundraising campaigns and communicate the vision of Re:Coded to the public.

Key Responsibilities

Marketing and Communications

  • Lead digital marketing campaigns from concept to implementation to increase followers on social media and source customers for Re:Coded’s co-working space and trainings.

  • Create monthly newsletters for co-working space members.

  • Source content through interviews with alumni, current students and other stakeholders.

  • Help manage Re:Coded social media channels including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Medium.

  • Analyze the data analytics of social media campaigns and adjust future posts to increase engagement.

  • Brainstorm new and creative marketing growth strategies.

  • Create branding materials for the different areas of our business, including the co-working space and the digital agency.

Media and PR

  • Develop close, productive relationships with journalists, bloggers, influencers and key partners across Iraq.

  • Create and distribute press releases for events, activities and programs at Re:Coded.

  • Take video footage and pictures at events and launch live updates on social media.

  • Help plan and launch digital fundraising campaigns for Re:Coded.

The ideal Candidate

  • You are detail-oriented and can catch mistakes from far away. Something not spelt correctly? You’ll spot it and fix it straight away before hitting ‘publish’.  

  • You’re an excellent communicator: written, in person, on the phone, and via web conferencing.

  • You have experience creating social media campaigns for different target audiences. You might even already have thousands of followers of your own on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

  • You understand the importance of data analysis and can keep a close eye on the performance of each post. If a post isn’t performing well, you won’t sleep till you find out why and how we can improve the next post.

  • You’re a natural talent when it comes to writing. You know how to keep people engaged and craving for more content.

  • You have a magic eye for taking creative photos and making breathtaking videos.

  • You’re a great team player and can collaborate easily on different tasks. If a trainer needs to promote a workshop, you’ll be able to work closely with them to develop engaging content and share on social media.

  • You stay up to date with the latest marketing trends and technologies, always coming up with ideas on how to include them into our marketing.

  • You are motivated, strategic and hard-working with the ability to balance multiple work streams in a fast-paced environment.


  • Bachelor or Masters Degree in Communications, Marketing, Business and/or related field.

  • At least 3 years of work experience in marketing, advertising or similar field.

  • Fluent English and Arabic skills. Kurdish is a plus.

  • Demonstrated ability of using social media to effectively deliver marketing content

  • A deep understanding of Re:Coded’s brand values and identity.

  • Familiarity with running paid social activities across a variety of channels, such as paid campaigns and influencer campaigns.

  • Demonstrated experience taking professional photograph and video.

  • A background in the technology sector is a strong asset.
