Technology is changing the way the world responds to crisis - and Re:Coded is at the center of it all. We are a fast-growing startup training conflict-affected youth with fundamental coding skills and professional experience that together create access to careers in technology. As war-shattered economies start to get back on their feet, we train the generation that will drive these countries forward, while helping to solve the global technical talent shortage. We run technical education programs in Iraq, Turkey, and Yemen and in addition operate our co-working space, Re:Coded House, in Iraq. Re:Coded has trained more than 450 children and young adults in digital skills, with a go-to job rate of 88% in our coding bootcamps. Re:Coded is supported by some of the world’s leading foundations & development agencies, including GIZ, UNDP, Western Union Foundation, Slack and SAP.
What We Want
We are seeking a Communications Intern that can thrive in a startup environment. Applicants should be detail-oriented, enrolled students with a strong interest in media and communications, technology and social impact.
The Communications Intern will support the day-to-day management of social media platforms, conduct research to further communication objectives, and assist in content creation. We encourage ownership and initiative and therefore are looking for a self-starter who is willing to jump in and spot new opportunities for growth.
This position will be based out of our co-working space, Center for Social Innovation, located in Chelsea. You will have access to a community of changemakers and learn more about the social innovation field. Remote work will be considered on an ad-hoc basis.
An Idea of What you’ll be working on…
Building and developing a content calendar for our social media platforms
Producing multimedia content to share Re:Coded’s mission
Market analysis of startups and innovation in and around the MENA Region
Researching potential media outlets and journalists
Looking to work in an innovative startup environment
Passionate about social innovation and technology
Creative, enthusiastic, and motivated
Organized and goal orientated
Excellent communicator and collaborator
Have a high attention to detail
Pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree
Familiar with social media platforms
Familiar with Adobe Suite, and if not a willingness to learn
Internship can be used for college credit or experience
Internship will be based at our dog-friendly co-working space, Center for Social Innovation, with flexibility for remote work
