A Look-Back on April

With two graduations under our belt, we're getting back into the swing of things. The full update's below.

Applications are now open for our Android Basics Nanodegree by Google and Udacity!

Over the five month period you'll not only learn code, but gain real life client experience and work collaboratively with other fellows. In addition, you'll learn best business practices, and freelancing skills. Apply today.

In addition, we’ll be opening applications to our Web Development Bootcamp in Erbil on June 1st. The three-month course will focus on front-end web development, covering HTML, CSS, Javascript and Reactjs. Once completed, you’ll be able to build the front-end of websites from scratch! To be the first to know, express your interest here.

Our Own Office Space

We finally have our own co-working and training space in Erbil! This means we’re on our way to creating Erbil’s go-to hub where tech enthusiasts can meet and work together. We can’t wait to welcome our new cohorts of Re:Coded Fellows to our new space in Erbil.

Updates from Istanbul, Turkey

We’re nearly past the two-month mark in our Istanbul bootcamp. Our fellows are continuing to progress through the Udacity curriculum, and on their way to becoming Android Developers.

They'll soon be starting their client projects, which we'll have more information on soon. So far, they've done series of problem sets, learning layout design, and Java and Python. Our very own co-founder, Marcello, hosted a seminar on business communication and best business practices. In addition, we've hosted several Speaker Sessions.

In mid-April, we hosted Sinan Keles, the Head of International Growth at Scorp App, a Turkish startup that allows users to upload 15-second videos on any topic. The app has become increasingly popular in Brazil and Mexico. He spoke to our fellows about the company he helped build, and shared advice on how to monetize mobile applications.

Omer Erkmen speaking to our fellows

Omer Erkmen speaking to our fellows

Last week, we hosted Omer Erkmen as part of our Speaker Sessions. Omer is a well-known mentor and angel investor in Turkey's startup ecosytem. He talked to our fellows about Turkey's start-up sector, what's it like to be an entrepreneur, and discussed several of his companies.

We believe in the power of a story. We launched a Medium page to provide a platform for our fellows to author their own narratives. That’s our first priority. Our second, is to share our own development and journey in the growth of Re:Coded. Follow along.

I was determined to keep on track and continue studying computer science and keep writing code with a cup of coffee, because I can’t imagine a life without the sound of fingers typing on a keyboard.
— Ahmed Breem, Re:Coded Fellow
